Three.js

Three.js is the most widely used JavaScript library for 3D graphics on the web. Created by Ricardo Cabello (mrdoob) in 2010, it provides a high-level API over WebGL — and more recently WebGPU — making it accessible to developers who are not graphics-programming specialists.

In the product-configurator space, Three.js powers everything from simple color-swatching tools to full room planners with drag-and-drop furniture placement. Its large ecosystem of loaders (glTF, FBX, OBJ), post-processing effects, and community add-ons means teams can move fast without writing low-level shader code.

Three.js is open-source (MIT license) and has an active community of contributors. It remains the default choice for teams building custom 3D web experiences.
